DC Consolidation Gives Pallet Rack a Repurpose | Apex Project Spotlight
A leading national hardware cooperative recently launched a major supply chain restructuring effort which included the consolidation of several facilities and closing of one of its smaller retailer support warehouses in the Baltimore area. The Apex install (& dismantle) team was called in to tear down the pallet rack systems and clear the warehouse.
Pallet rack systems included:
- Selective pallet rack
- Pick modules – includes 2-deep push-back and wire decking
- Drive-in pallet rack
- Cantilever rack
As you can see from the pictures below, an abundance of the pallet rack was in great shape and ideal for repurposing for future use. The rack that was too damaged to save was removed from the warehouse and recycled.
Ultimately, over 62,000 beams and 5000 pallet rack frames were saved! There were also 9000 pallet supports, over 14,000 wire decks, and other building materials that will go on to find a new warehouse home. Apex completed the entire takedown in 6 weeks. Well done Apex team.
