Punches run the length of the column at standard intervals where the cross beams are connected. Although there are a large variety of punching patterns for roll-formed column or post/beam connectivity, a few of the more popular types include: Teardrop, slotted, and rectangular.
Different manufacturers offer proprietary variations of these punches, but the basic concept of each is universal. A common feature of the three punches is that they allow for faster and easier clip-together type installation and reconfiguring than bolted structural pallet racking.
The following guide will help identify pallet rack type and brand by the column shape, style punch design. By matching the column design with the manufacturer it will be easier to identify compatible beams and accessories.
